FAQs

  • What ages do you teach?
    We teach children and adults of all ages, but generally, the youngest we teach is 5 years old. We usually recommend starting learning from age 7 - though this varies from student to student!
  • Is there parking?
    Yes, we have a private car park with plenty of available space.
  • How do I book a rehearsal?
    You can book our rehearsal space online. Head to the 'rehearsals' section of our website to be taken to our booking calendar. If you wish to book sessions outside of these hours or require longer sessions, please get in touch.
  • Are there refreshments?
    We have tea/coffee making facilities and provide tea/coffee, sugar and milk. We also have a fridge/freezer with bottled water provided. You can also use the fridge for your own refreshments. Please only take what you need, as these refreshments are for everybody. If bands are found to be abusing the free refreshments we provide, they will no longer be provided for that band.
  • Do you accept work experience students?
    Yes! We have had several work experience students here at Solstice Sound. If you wish to complete your work experience at the studio, please send us an email on info@solstice-sound.com with the subject 'WORK EXPERIENCE'.
  • Where is the studio located?
    You can find us on the 1st Floor, Unit 16, Templars Way Industrial Estate, Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon, SN4 7SR. Head to the 'Contact' page on our site to see where to find us!
  • Do you have air-conditioning?
    Yes, we have an air-conditioning unit to keep you cool in the Summer and can also be used for heating in the Winter!
  • I'm interested in working at Solstice Sound. How do I apply?
    If you wish to teach at Solstice Sound, please send us an email on info@solstice-sound.com with the subject 'APPLY'.
  • How much do you charge for lessons?
    For Monday to Thursday sessions, lessons prices are £32 p/h (£16 per 30 min). Sophie, our drum tutor, offers lessons Monday to Thursday. Kaan, our guitar/bass guitar tutor offers lessons Monday to Thursday.
  • How big is the rehearsal room?
    Our rehearsal room is 250sq ft. It comfortably hosts a 6 piece band, but we've even had 10-piece bands use the studio before!
  • Do you offer trial lessons?
    Yes! We offer trial lessons for new students with no-tie in. Please note, trial sessions are charged at our usual lesson rates, please see pricing FAQ for details.
  • Which instruments do you teach?
    We offer drum lessons, guitar lessons and bass guitar lessons from our private music studio in Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon, Wiltshire. We are always open to expand the instrument options that we cover, so if you are interested in working for us or know someone who is, we'd love to hear what you could bring to Solstice Sound.
  • What are your opening hours?
    For rehearsals, we are open 24/7. If your preferred rehearsal time is not available to book via our online system, please contact us. For instrument tuition, we are open Sunday to Thursday. We operate as usual on bank holidays! Please note, we are a private studio and do not offer walk-ins without appointment. If you have any questions before booking your rehearsal or instrument lessons, please contact us beforehand.
  • What equipment is included with my booking?
    The room comes fully equipped with a full backline and PA system consisting of 2x Marshall cabs, 1x Ashdown bass combo, Yamaha Drums (inc. stands) and a Behringer mixer. Please bring amp heads, microphones (inc. XLR's and stands) and breakables for drums. We have spare mics, stands and XLR's on-site, but please ensure you bring enough for your band requirements. If you wish to hire extra equipment during your session, i.e. breakables, extra cymbals etc, please arrange this directly with the studio when booking your session.)
